Seven words summarize the mission of First Baptist Tulsa: To Glorify God In All We Do. What does this mean and why does this matter? This mission captures our intent to make God look good, because he is good. Specifically, we want God to look good in our relationship with him through worship, our relationships with one another within our community, and our relationship with the world through our service. The Great Commandments to love God and love others guide our decisions and direction as the body of Christ in the world.
What We Believe
Throughout the centuries Christians have given expression to the details of this relationship through creeds and confessions. One of the earliest and most accurate of these expressions is called The Apostles’ Creed. This creed still represents the essence of what followers of Jesus believe.
The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
At First Baptist Tulsa, we believe in the power of community and faith. Our mission is to foster a welcoming environment where everyone can grow spiritually and connect with others.
