The Caring Center is a ministry of First Baptist Tulsa and is comprised of three volunteer-based ministries; the Clothing Ministry, Food Ministry and Benevolence Ministry. We are located on the Southeast corner of 3rd Street and Detroit Avenue. For more information on donations or volunteer work, call Eric Costanzo, Minister of Community Ministries at 918.587.1571. Updated 8-23-2010Items Currently NeededWe are always in need of your donations for the Caring Center. Right now, however, there are some specific items for which we have an immediate need: Food Items -Peanut Butter and Jelly -Ramen Noodles -Pop-top canned soups/pastas Hygiene Items -Toilet Paper -Razors -Soap -Diapers sizes 3,4,5,6 Clothing Items -Men's waist size 30, 32, 34, jeans! -Men's and Women's plus sizes -Men's shoes of all sizes - Tennis shoes and work boots! We gladly accept used clothing and it is helpful if they are washed first! How valuable is one hour? One hour can provide one hundred needy people in Tulsa with food. One hour can help men, women, and children choose clothing for their entire family. One hour can help fifteen households keep their electricity and heat going for another month. We are in need of volunteers to offer one hour or more daily, weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly at the Caring Center to help with food, clothing, and with taking appointments for our benevolence ministry. Caring Center ScheduleMonday through Thursday 10:00 am to 1:00 pm The Clothing Ministry is open to the public. We are available to provide clothing to those with physical needs and to provide love and hope to those with spiritual needs. Each client may receive clothing every eight weeks. Monday through Thursday 10:00am to 11:00am The Food Ministry is open to the public. Grocery bags filled with various food items are distributed to clients with valid ID and meet the income requirements. Each client may receive groceries from the Food Ministry every four weeks. Tuesdays and Thursdays The Benevolence Ministry meets twice a week to interview people, by appointment only, who are in need of financial assistance, including past due and cut-off notices on their current utility bills. However, once the bill has been disconnected, we do not provide assistance). We work with Oklahoma Natural Gas, City of Tulsa Utilities and AEP-PSO electric companies.
